Cardamom Mountains, The Tatai River, & The World’s First Tented Hotel

Cambodia is known for its ecological wonders, the large swaths of unspoiled nature that offer exclusive sights into secluded havens like the Cardamom Mountains. The tropic jungles that stretch throughout the country offer unique opportunities to catch glimpses of rare wildlife and to enjoy the simplistic, yet rich environment. At 4 Rivers Floating Lodge, we aim to deliver not just a hotel service, but an experience that incorporates the feeling of sharing in this beautiful landscape that surrounds our resort. The concept of our hotel design was intended to further enhance the natural aura of the Cambodian jungles–not deplete it. Our resort is dedicated to providing the closest, true experience in luxury traveling, combined with an authentic sense of appreciation and discovery for the world in which we live.

Guests experience a total immersion into the Cambodian rainforests, from sleeping on the river to participating in jungle excursions. The bungalows we offer float directly on top of the Tatai River, so guests will be continuously surrounded by nature, where they’re able to jump into the river from their tented terrace if they please.  Our floating bungalows are fully-equipped with flat-screen TVs, DVD players, a stocked mini-bar with drinks and snacks, plus much more. Hand-picked staff will cater to every need, and guarantee guests that unique visit steeped in the unknowns offered by the Cambodian nature.

A large portion of our promised authentic vacation comes from the numerous activities that offer unparalleled glimpses inside a rainforest’s everyday life. Drift downstream on kayaks, see the night sky burst into life during our sunset cruise, or hike beneath the looming silhouettes of the Cardamom. Cambodia is brimming with life, and not all of what you’ll encounter are wild animals. Sitting across from our tented bungalows, the Koh Andet island is the peaceful home to a small farming community. Guests can receive guided tours of the island, meeting the indigenous people and forming cultural bonds that only strengthen the deep experience our resort creates. We offer a wide range of activities, all intended to further enhance the quality of your cultural catharsis. Read about them below!

Jungle Trek

Early risers can enjoy this morning hike through the jungle that surrounds our luxury resort. Kicking off at an early 7:00am, participants are encouraged to bring cameras so they may preserve this unique trip, and hiking boots so that navigating the thick underbrush won’t be difficult. You’ll be subject to the jungle’s symphony of morning noises and cabarets of colorful birds, snakes, and spiders.

Tatai Waterfall

Guests are highly recommended to visit these falls, approximately 45 minutes away from our tranquil 4 Rivers Floating Lodges. Enjoy the boat ride past Tatai Village, and absorb the sights and sounds of the secluded rainforest life. We advise bringing sunscreen, hats, and of course your camera! See the roaring falls and the kayak the small waterways for the total experience.

Koh Kong Knong

An opportunity to understand the life of small fishing villages, our excursions to this idyllic community will take guests inside the town’s school, pagoda, and even some private homes. This trip is one of the best ways to ingratiate yourself with rural, Cambodian culture and people. Forming bonds across cultural gaps is one of the cornerstones of our vision.

Destination vacations are meant to impart some modicum of appreciation for the native peoples and cultures. We don’t want guests to miss out on any chance to learn more about the different ways of life in this world. Choosing to stay in our floating lodges means you have chosen to submerge yourself beneath the waves of Cambodian culture.
